Hotelier even before she was born, and with extensive experience in hotel management and consulting, Ana Beatriz is ABC Hospitality's CEO & New Business Manager. Attended the professional course of Restaurant and Bar, at Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo de Lisboa. Graduated in Hotel Management at Universidade Lusófona, Lisbon, and with a Specialized in Financial & Hospitality Management at Cornell University, in Itaka, USA, Ana Beatriz began her career at Grupo Hoteis Heritage Lisboa, where, years later, she took over the position of Director-General, at the age of 28.  The passion for hospitality is part of her DNA and the journey of self-discovering she has been gone through, took her to this exact moment of her life and career – she brings hotels to life as Hotel Consultant and founder of ABC Sustainable Luxury Hospitality, a consulting platform specialized in well-being and sustainable hotel projects through which she tries to bring people together and take on a mission: the Growth of the Wellness and Sustainability Segment in the National Hotel Industry.

ANA PAULA PAIS

President of European Association of Hotel and Tourisme Schools (AEHT)

Ana Paula Pais is the Head of Education at Turismo de Portugal in the Ministry of Economics, and she is responsible for the global management of the network of 12 Hotel and Tourism Schools in Portugal. She has also the mission to implement an integrated coordination of the tourism training system, in articulation with other public bodies that also undertake training in tourism, especially in the Ministry of Education and in the Ministry of Labor.   She is The Presidente of the European Association of Hotel and Tourism Schools (www.aeht.eu ) and Co-Chair of the UNWTO Online Education Committee   She has a Master’s degree in Management, a Mini-MBA in Hospitality Management and a Post-Graduation in Data Management, as well as other training in the area of Public Management and Human Resource Management.  She was Director of the Hotel and Tourism School in Coimbra, for 12 years, coordinated a Postgraduate Degree in Tourism and Hotel Management and she was responsible for the first Degree in Gastronomy in Portugal.  

Bernardo Trindade

President of Associação de Hotelaria de Portugal (AHP)

Bernardo Trindade held public functions, first as a deputy in the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, and then as Secretary of State for Tourism in the 16th and 17th constitutional governments between 2000 and 2011, making an important contribution to the institutional role of the tourism sector with the establishment of “Turismo de Portugal” and with the reform and reorganization of tourist destinations. He was also responsible for reviewing all legislation in the sector, namely the law on tourist enterprises, travel agencies and tourist entertainment, still in place since 2008. With a degree in Business Organization and Management from ISG – Business and Economic School, Bernardo Trindade is now director of Porto Bay Hotels & Resorts, S.A., a Portuguese hotel group born on Madeira Island with 15 hotels in different places (Madeira, Lisbon, Algarve, Oporto, and Brazil) and currently employing 1.060 employees. Since October 2013, he has also been director of the company Sweets & Sugar, which belongs to the industrial sugar and confectionery sector in Madeira’s Free Trade Zone. Between April 2017 and December 2019, he was appointed by the Prime Minister of Portugal as chairman of the Executive Committee of Portugal IN, a temporary mission structure created by the Portuguese government to attract foreign direct investment under Brexit. Between June 2017 and June 2021, he was appointed non- executive director of TAP Air Portugal. Bernardo Trindade is also linked to the associative tourism sector. He has been elected president of Associação de Hotelaria de Portugal (AHP) on april 22 for the 2022-2024 term; he is also a member of the Lisbon Tourism Association; president of the Marketing Council of the Lisbon Regional Tourism Authority and president of the Strategic Council for Tourism in Porto and the North of Portugal. As a result of his career, he was distinguished by His Excellency the President of the Portuguese Republic as “Grande-Oficial da Ordem do Infante D. Henrique”.

CARLOS FERNANDES

Professor at Polytechnique Institut of Viana do Castelo

Carlos Fernandes, Ph.D., is Associate Professor in Tourism at the Polytechnic of Viana do Castelo, Portugal. He obtained his undergraduate degree at Syracuse University (USA), Master´s at Rutgers University (USA) and Ph.D. at Bournemouth University (UK). His research interests include tourism innovation, tourism as a development strategy, gastronomy, cultural, religious and diaspora tourism. Lectures in the B.A. in Tourism and the M.A. in Innovative Tourism Development. Member of the ATLAS Gastronomy and Tourism Special Interest Group, an external expert for IGCAT-International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism, member of the Advisory Committee of the Observatory on Gastronomy Tourism in Italy, Grand Master of the Confraternity of the Gastronomes of Minho and responsible for the successful bid of Minho-2016 European Region of Gastronomy. Researcher at the Centre for Transdisciplinary Development Studies (CETRAD) at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro and the Centre for Research, Development and Innovation in Tourism (CiTUR), Portugal. A member of the editorial board of various tourism related scientific journals. He has presented papers in more than a hundred national and international conferences and has widely published in his areas of interest.

Gonçalo Rebelo de Almeida, 48 years old, is the administrator of the Vila Galé group with the areas of marketing and sales, IT and HR. He was responsible for the launch of several products and services within the group: loyalty program, websites, mobile applications, ERP Vila Galé, Vila Galé Academy and Vila Galé Staff program, among others.

French by birth established in Spain, Guilhaume Garcia has more than 15 years of experience in the world of training, ranging from the teaching of French and Spanish as foreign languages ​​to the training of teachers. This collaborator of the Escuela Superior de Hostelería of Seville is now Director of Studies responsible for in-company courses at the prestigious CLIC International House language school in Seville. In parallel with these functions, he also exercised for more than four years the role of coordinator of Eurhodip under the presidency of Don Luis de Lezama.

HENRIQUE TIAGO DE CASTRO

Dynamic and "disruptive" hotel management lover with the ambitious urge to shake & stir an F&B and lifestyle-centric hotel. My path starts with an amuse bouche in cookery and is followed by a 7-course meal – having worked in hotels across 7 (very different) countries –, this is paired with a full-bodied hotel management diploma. In simple terms, these experiences made me fluent in 4 languages (PT, DE, EN & ES). Far beyond this, living within different communities has refined my natural adaptability and contributed to my deep appreciation towards cultural differences. I thrive during high pressure periods and never shy away from a challenge. I think my biggest asset is the ability to use my "always ready" attitude into bringing energy and progress to any project I become part of. However, I also believe that is not possible to achieve peak performance without a strong team spirit, where everybody feels empowered.

Linda Pereira is the senior partner and CEO of the L&I Communications Group. In addition to her long and respected career as one of the most influential voices in the Meeting Industry, she is also Executive Director of CPL Meetings &Events. Respected internationally as a speaker, consultant, strategic communication expert, writer and as an educator, she has been an invited speaker in over 149 countries on all continents. She is an expert in communication and corporate diplomacy, and has a vast experience in cross-cultural communication strategies, localisation, and public speaking and as a master of ceremonies. She has worked on the major events which marked the last 30 years of modern history, from WorldEXPOs, to Football and Sports Championships, various EU Presidencies and major political events. She is the Chair of the Association World Congress for 2022. She was president of the Global Council for Women in Leadership for two mandates. In 2021 she received the Lifetime Achievement Award for the MICE Industry. Linda has recently been elected one of the Global 100women leaders. She considers her two daughters as her greatest achievement.

MARTA SOTTO-MAYOR

Marta has over 25 years of professional experience in the Hospitality, Hotels and Restaurants industry. Academic degrees: Hospitality Management Licentiate University Degree by ISCELisboa, Hotel Management Graduation at Porto Hotel and Tourism School, Post-Graduation by Glion Hotel Management School and Certificate of Strategic Hospitality Marketing by Cornell University. Professional career: started in the United States of America has Sales Coordinator and progressed until assuming senior positions as Director of Sales and Marketing, Hotel General Manager and Director of Operations, in different contexts of international brands, hotel groups and independent firms. Main competencies in the areas of Sales & Marketing, Guest Experience, F&B, Operational Management and Training / Mentoring. Work experience in the USA, Spain and Portugal. Fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish, good French level. Since 2019 fully dedicated to the development of talent, design and deliver of tailor-made training programs-online/classroom and on-the-job. Also coordinates corporate consulting projects and collaborates with more than 25 companies in the Hospitality industry and major professional associations in the Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant sectors. Joined Amorim Luxury Group in 2021, being responsible for the Marketing, Customer Experience and CRM Department for all the Business Units (Fashion Clinic and JNcQUOI Brands) with the purpose of reinforcing the brand positioning and prepare the group for future expansion.

PAULO REVÉS

Director of Tourism Training and International Cooperation at Turismo de Portugal, I.P. the Portuguese national agency for tourism, Paulo Revés has extensive experience, working in the hospitality sector, and in education for hospitality during the last 30 years. He has lectured in tourism and hotel management related subjects including F&B management and tourism. He has coordinated various publications and has published several books on hospitality. He is also President of Eurhodip, the leading hospitality school association, and Vice-president of Coupe Georges Baptiste association. Has graduated in Tourism and Hospitality Management. He also has a Master’s degree in Strategic Tourism Planning and a Doctorate in Tourism from the University of Lisbon. Paulo Revés has attended several conferences as guest speaker about Tourism Education. He has publications in several journals and magazines and works closely with local education partners to develop the tourism and hospitality human resources.

PETER GIACOMINI

Consultor & General Manager

Peter Giacomini’s career in 5 star hotels and resorts around the world spans a long period, of which he worked 32 years with Marriott International. His prior experience includes a variety of chains, groups and independents such as Bettoja Hotels Rome, Grand Hotel Rome, Hilton International Berlin, Hilton USA San Francisco, Concorde Groupe Paris, Beresta Palace Russia, Disneyland Paris France and many others. Peter worked in twelve countries and four continents, while he built his career from steward, at age 15 in Rome, to GM at Marriott International, Beresta Palace in Russia and many others. During his career received many awards for his diligence and hard work but specially for leadership skills and his qualities as a compassionate human being. Married with two adult children, he retired in 2013 and relocated to Portugal. He is now dedicating his time to public speaking, seminars, training and interim GM positions around the globe. Peter also advises universities and professional schools in Europe and Latin America.

RITA MARQUES

Secretary of State for Tourism, Trade and Services

Rita Marques was born in Porto in 1975. Undergraduate (1998) and master’s degree (2000) in Electrotechnical Engineering and Computers from the University of Porto Faculty of Engineering. She has an MBA (2007) from the University of Southern California, as well as several leadership for executives programmes from the Corporate Institute (2018), London Business School (2017), and University of Texas at Austin (2016). President of Portugal Capital Ventures - Sociedade de Capital de Risco, S.A.. She was Executive Director of the Porto Business School for MBAs and Postgraduate degrees (2016-2018), Coordinator of the Project Unit at the University of Porto (2008-2016), and Head of the Asian-Pacific Market and the Technology and Tourism sectors at the Portuguese Investment Agency (2003-2006). She was also senior consultant at Microsoft Corporation (2006-2007) in the USA and expert at ANACOM (2001-2003). She was Chair of the Supervisory Council of the Youth Foundation (2017-2019). She has had several consulting assignments with public and private entities in the field of Innovation, Public Funding, Internationalisation and Foreign Direct Investment.

RITA SOARES

Rita Soares started working together with her actual husband and brother in law, managing the wine distribution business, in 1993, “Garrafeira Soares” that is, today, the biggest distribution company in the south of Portugal, with a chain of 26 shops and a team of 30 salesman and a wines and spirits education Studio.  In 1998 with her husband and brother in law, acquires a property in Alentejo with 450 hectares of land with the aim of producing wines. In 2008 one of the several ruins abandoned in the property turns into a small luxury wine hotel with a innovative concept of experiences related to wine and nature, designed for a niche of tourists who enjoy a new concept of luxury, isolated places, unspoilt nature and a personalized service – Herdade da Malhadinha.  In 2015 creates an editorial about wine tourism “Portugal Wine & Life Style” as one of the authors with a personal selection of the best wine tourisms in Portugal.     In 2016 is invited to lecture branding in a post-graduation course at the “Lusofona University “. She is also the creator of one of the most important brand of wines & spirits event in Portugal “Algarve Trade Experience “. 

ROBERTO ANTUNES

Executive Director of NEST – Tourism Innovation Center Portugal

Owning a degree in Economics at Nova University of Lisbon and a post-graduation in Tourism Management in Estoril School. Over 20 years of career in multinationals in marketing roles and FMCG category leadership positions, both at local, regional a global levels. Lived in 7 countries, Angola, Portugal, Austria, Italy, France, UK and Brazil. Since May 2019 is the executive Director of the newly established tourism innovation center, which he was invited to set up and coordinate, up to today.

SHEREE MITCHEL

President and Founder of Immersa Global

Sheree M. Mitchell, is the president and founder of Immersa Global, a boutique destination management company that specializes in exclusive travel, concierge services, and meetings and events for high-net-worth North American clients. With over 15 years of experience in the luxury market in South Florida, Mitchell has designed and managed a vast portfolio of international projects for the most discerning clients from the USA, Canada, Latin America, and Europe. Mitchell is often engaged to provide insight for international travel media as well as industry conferences, trade shows, and publications such as UNWTO, Travel Weekly, Travel & Leisure, and more. In 2021, she was appointed President of the Portugal for ASTA (American Society of Travel Advisors) where she leverages her networks on both sides of the Atlantic to increase industry awareness between the two countries. In early 2022, Mitchell received the prestigious and rare endorsement by Travel + Leisure for her expertise in luxury tailor-made travel in Portugal. During the pandemic, Mitchell designed and launched IG for Good: a program that connects sustainability-minded travel consumers with tourism suppliers who promote social and environmental development in Portugal. The second phase of IG for Good (launched in 2022) focuses on upscale food and wine tourism as a driver for economic development in rural areas in Portugal. Mitchell has a master’s degree from Florida State University and she’s currently studying sustainable tourism development at Harvard University. Mitchell lives between Lisbon and Florida where she sits on the board of a few non-profit organizations.

With a degree in Human Resources Management and Psychology, he is the Human Resources Director for the hotels InterContinental Lisbon and Crowne Plaza Porto, with responsibilities also extended to the Direction and Management of Human Resources at InterContinental Cascais - Estoril. He is responsible for the direction, planning and coordination of Human Resources policies; Labor Relations; Human Capital Development and Social Responsibility.   He was a lecturer at INP - Instituto de Novas Profissões and also, he is a trainer at the ADHP – Hotel Directors Association of Portugal where he teaches "Human Resources Management" in the Hotel Management Specialization Course and likewise collaborates with Lusófona University.  In 2020, against all odds, he led numerous "Proximity Management" projects, in the range of People Management, Competency Management, Leadership, Communication and Change Management, having been distinguished and recognized by IHG - InterContinental Hotels Group - with the "Developing People Award" within the scope of the "Hotel Star Awards 2020 - Southern Europe". In 2021 he wins the excellence award in Hospitality promoted by ADHP in the category "Best Human Potential Manager".  Already in 2021, by the dynamics and organizational designs on the future of Human Resources Management, embraces the role of "HR Champion" for the Iberian Region for Hotels managed by IHG.
